Immensely readable with unparalleled detail - like you were strolling Le Marais in Paris, the wharves and narrow lanes of North Shore fishing villages, and the avenues of Boston along side Ben Holt all the while peering over his shoulder snatching glimpses of his sketchbook.
Glenn Morris' writing brings his characters to vibrant life. He draws men and women equally well - a noted accomplishment.
He has an architect's sense of place. I especially like his rendering of Rockport MA with its fond memories of long ago summers.
This is that unique book - a romantic thriller.

This book is a great read with an attention holding plot. As a fellow high school graduate of the author, Glenn Morris, his referances to our hometown of Lynn Ma. were very nostalgic .Glenn's ability to incorporate his first profession as an architect into the content of his novel was both refreshing and educational.
Having grown up in this same town, this Empire Falls type story of family and community, imbued with intrigue and real life personalities that transcend the hardscrabble city to the upper echelons of international society was a trip down memory lane that kept me turning the pages finding reality in the portrayal of sweeping success aside epic failure.
What John Grisham did in bringing the legal world into the world of novels and thrillers, Glenn Morris does so for the world of architecture in Obligation for Justice. And he does much more. His is a novel that transcends the thriller genre as it bestows rich stories of boyhood and brothers, of lingering neighborhood rivalries, of first and lasting loves, and of the impact of betrayals in how we view ourselves and our world. It is a novel full of three dimensional characters who stand on the page living the moments that shape their passions and their drives. Ultimately, it is the story of two brothers who partake in vastly different paths in life and the rules of their hometown streets that neither can ignore. Obligation for Justice is a highly entertaining and enjoyable novel. My hats off to Glenn Morris, and my recommendation is you buy this book. Heck, buy one for a good friend or two as well. They will thank you.
Glenn Morris wastes no time pulling you right into this novel. From page one I had a tough time putting the book down and turning out the light - just one more chapter... The character development made you feel like you grew up with each of these characters. Who doesn't have a story like Annie's and Ben's? Young love that ultimately parts ways - each finding someone that they truly love - but never forgetting one another and at times wondering what if? And then the twists and turns at the end...the author really captures you until the last page! It's a compelling story and one that I think many others will enjoy as well. I don't typically read books twice, but this is one that will definitely get a second, and maybe a third read as I await Saving Angel.
